Bars — Efficient, and Heavy

Bars are the most storage-efficient form of silver, and the larger the bar the better the economics — right up until you want to sell part of it.

Tell us the form as well as the quantity. With silver, form changes the number more than people expect.

The efficiency and the trade-off

A thousand-ounce commercial bar is far cheaper per ounce to store and handle than the equivalent in coins. It is also indivisible, harder to sell to a retail buyer, and requires equipment to move. Efficiency in storage and flexibility at sale pull in opposite directions.

What we look at

  • Refiner — recognized names verify fastest.
  • Bar size, since handling changes materially above 100oz.
  • Serial numbers where the bars carry them.
  • Weight verified on arrival, since silver bars vary more than gold.
  • Condition, which affects nothing structurally but is recorded.

How we handle it

  1. 01Describe the refiner, sizes and total weight.
  2. 02Estimate against live spot at the advance rate.
  3. 03Insured freight, planned around the weight.
  4. 04Verification, weighing and serial recording on arrival.
  5. 05The same bars returned on repayment.

Large commercial bars are excellent to store and awkward to sell in a hurry. If part of your reason for holding silver is the ability to liquidate quickly and in pieces, a mix of bar sizes serves you better than everything in thousand-ounce form.

Said plainly

Where we stop

We advance on metal content. Poured art bars and collectible bars carrying a premium above melt should not be pledged, because that premium is worth more to you than it is to us.

FAQ

Common questions

Which bar sizes are best?
For storage economics, larger. For flexibility at sale, smaller. A mix usually serves a holder best.
Do you take 1000oz commercial bars?
Yes. They are efficient to store and heavy to move, and the freight is planned accordingly.
What about poured art bars?
Advanced on metal content only. If they carry a real premium, do not pledge them.
Do you verify weight?
Yes, on arrival. Silver bars vary more than gold, so it matters.
