Generic Rounds — All Metal, No Premium

Privately minted rounds are pure metal exposure with no sovereign premium, which makes them straightforward collateral and slightly less liquid at sale.

Tell us the form as well as the quantity. With silver, form changes the number more than people expect.

Liquidity, not authenticity

The question with generic silver is rarely whether it is real — it is whether a buyer will want it later. Sovereign coins move instantly anywhere. Private-mint rounds from an unfamiliar mint move more slowly and sometimes at a slightly wider spread, and that is worth knowing when you decide what to hold.

What we check

  • Mint and recognisability, which affects liquidity rather than content.
  • Stated fineness, verified where it is not a known issue.
  • Total weight, which is what the advance is calculated on.
  • Whether they are tubed and countable or loose.
  • Any round carrying a genuine collector premium.

How we handle it

  1. 01Describe the mint, the size and the approximate quantity.
  2. 02Estimate on metal content at live spot.
  3. 03Insured freight arranged for the weight.
  4. 04Verified and counted or weighed on arrival.
  5. 05The same rounds returned on repayment.

Keep them tubed. Loose rounds in a bag have to be counted and often weighed individually, and on a large holding that handling cost is real. Tubes are cheap and they pay for themselves at intake.

Said plainly

Where we stop

Unrecognized private mints occasionally require additional verification, which takes time. We will tell you before you ship rather than after it arrives.

FAQ

Common questions

Are rounds worth less than coins?
As metal, no. At sale, sovereign coins are more liquid and generic rounds sometimes carry a slightly wider spread.
Do you verify fineness?
For known issues, by recognition. For unfamiliar mints, by testing, which takes longer.
Should I keep them tubed?
Yes. Loose rounds cost handling time, and on a large holding that is a real cost.
Do you take any mint?
Generally, though an unrecognized mint may need extra verification. Tell us before shipping.
